Barks for Beers 2019: Dogs, Craft Beer, and a Good Cause

Barks for Beers 2019 is back and features 22 Austin breweries, many of them are new additions to the scene. The first year there were only 8 breweries participating and now in its sixth year there are 22.

Ever notice the overlap of craft beer and dog lovers? Well so did Divine Canines. This year their fundraising event, Barks for Beers, is partnering with 22 of Austin’s finest craft breweries for a fun, month-long, community event for you and your pup!

Here’s how Barks for Beers works:

Purchase a special Divine Canines pint glass and accompanying Pawsport for $30 at the participating breweries.

Then for the entire month of May (actually starting April 26) take your Pawsport to the breweries listed above to get free pour at each!

While the beer is free, the taproom staff is still working hard to serve you. That means don’t you dare forget to leave a tip!

This year the glasses are $30. Yes, the price has increased a bit, but remember that proceeds from sales of the glasses go directly to Divine Canines. This money allows them to train more dog-and-handler teams to continue free therapy dog services at more than 115 sites around Austin and Central Texas.

Your support means more therapy dogs can inspire, comfort, and revitalize people in the Austin community!

And still, that’s about $1 for a local, craft beer. My favorite part about Barks for Beers, besides the increased presence of dogs at breweries and helping out an incredible charity, is the fun adventure of deciding how to conquer the list. Plus, it gets you out and about to all the breweries in the area!!
