With more than 275 breweries in Texas, there’s a lot to love about Texas craft beer…
On March 22nd, myself along with Stephen Oliver from Austin-based OPA Design Studio, are hitting the road in an RV. With a detail schedule in hang, we are heading out on an ambitious brewery tour through Houston, Dallas, and everywhere in between.

If you don’t know, Stephen Oliver (known as the Brewery Architect), along with his design studio, has been involved as an architect in the design of several dozen breweries, distilleries, and wineries.
You can read more about them in this blog post I wrote last year. (It’s one of my all time favorite posts!!)
Together, we’ve grown to appreciate both the products and unique trappings of the breweries and brewpubs in this state that we love so dearly.
So the plan for this brewery road trip is to stop at 50-ish Texas breweries in nine days!
Call us crazy, but we’ve got a detailed schedule in hand and plan on making this bigger than just your normal ‘beer-cation’.
Stephen and I both have a huge passion for craft beer and with this brewery road trip we are making it a mission to better connect with the growing craft beer communities throughout Texas.

We’re heading to Houston and Dallas (and several towns in between) to gain a better understanding of their needs, hopes, aspirations, challenges and goals. What better way to connect with all of these breweries than to visit them all on a week-long, cross-state, RV brewery road trip?
While I’m super familiar (and in love) with the Dallas craft beer scene, this will be my FIRST time to Houston and it’s surrounding suburbs. I’ve always thought that the best way to learn about a city or neighborhood is through its craft breweries and bars.
We’re heading to Houston first, then making our way up to the Dallas, Fort Worth area. We’ll be ending the trip at the Big Texas Beer Fest which is going to be the perfect way to celebrate the end of this incredible brewery road trip.

Here is a list of places we plan to hit on this 2019 Texas Brewery Road Trip:

We also need to say a massive thank you to our sponsors BeeWeaver Honey, Fruition Construction, and G & D Chillers.
Let me know if I’ll be visiting any breweries near you! We’re working out the details and are hoping to fit in some meets up in the different towns we visit.
