A few nights ago, I decided that it was about time we made a trip up north to try some of the craft beer from Cedar Park breweries. The biggest players in Cedar Park’s Craft Beer scene are Whitestone Brewery and Red Horn Coffee House and Brewing Co..
Both are just a short drive northwest of Austin, Texas. Austin has several small towns and cities surrounding it which makes it easy to escape from the hustle and bustle. My favorite thing to do when checking out a new area is seeing what breweries are around
Plan Your Visit Guide is at the bottom!
You’ll find Whitestone Brewery in Cedar Park tucked away into a corner in a tiny, unsuspecting strip mall. Even though it’s in a strip mall, it won’t feel like it at all, I promise!
I always enjoy a view of the brew tanks and Whitestone does a stellar job of showing off their equipment. Large glass windows behind their bar draws your eyes immediately to checking out their brewing system.
The taproom is huge, plenty of seating! There’s couches and a fireplace, so you are invited to have some beer and get cozy.
If you’re bringing your dog, you’ll want to post up on their covered patio! They stocked the outdoor area with tons of picnic table making Whitestone Brewery in Cedar Park a great place to come with a group.
We ordered a flight to get started. They had about 10 different beers when we visited: 6 year rounds and 4 seasonals. We went with mostly year rounds.
The flight was served on a simple paddle but the arraignment made the most beautiful rainbow of beer styles. The Boondoogle Brown and Cedrela Hefeweizen were our faves, but that Porch Daddy Porter deserves an honorable mention!
The people working here were friendly, welcoming, and were happy to answer any questions we threw their way. We’ve got great beer in Austin, but I’m genuinely looking forward to the next time I head out of the city for a break. It’ll be to head to Whitestone Brewery for that Porch Daddy Porter!
Red Horn Coffee House and Brewing Co.
Red Horn Coffee House and Brewing Co. is a multi-tasking business located in Cedar Park, Texas. Fresh roasted coffee or house brewed craft beer- take your pick because no matter what time of day it is, they can serve you up something good!
I loved this place! It was felt cozy and inviting right away. Probably because the amazing staff made us feel right at home, greeting us as soon as we came in the door.
You won’t feel cramped here if you’d like to stay for a drink or two. There is plenty of room inside to relax, meet with friends, or get some work done.
Want to bring your dog? Outside is where you’ll be then!
Looking around, There’s a full brick wall that serves as the backdrop for their bright red roaster. If that doesn’t catch your eye, surely the large, towering board of beers will!
Alongside their own brews, Red Horn Coffee House and Brewing Co. has a decent selection of guest taps from other breweries.
No food trucks here, but that’s because Red Horn has a great selection of light eats: sandwiches, appetizers, and baked goods. I recommend the chips and salsa if you want something just to munch on!
Our flight of Red Horn Beer:
TrailRunner Golden Ale
Drink Well Red Ale
Wonder Boy Hefe
Bushy Creek Brown
House United Coffee Stout
Our flight was served up in a railroad tie, I think? It was metal, industrial, and weighed a ton. But I loved the look of it and it definitely matched the rest of Red Horn Brewing’s vibe.
