Last time (January 2015) I traveled to Mexico, Mexico City at the end of my three week trip through Mexico. Since it was at the end of my trip and I kept getting off schedule I only had one full day to explore the second largest city in the world. It was impossible and I left knowing I hadn’t even scratched the surface of this beautiful capital. So this trip I decided to spend plenty of time in the city and I knew I wanted to stay in two different neighborhoods.
The first few days of my trip I stayed in Zocalo, at the same hostel I stayed in last time (Hostel Mundo Joven). It was in a great location and I quickly made some traveling friends while staying there. And at the end of my trip I decided to stay in Coyoacan. A totally different experience than most of Mexico City. The neighborhood was hip, very green, and very safe feeling (police were on basically every block which is a sure sign of safety in Mexico.)

Mexico City Eats & Street Food

True, authentic Al Pastor Tacos. Meat that’s cut from. a piece of pork that’s been spit-roasted all day. Walking around Mexico early in the day, you can see these the people loading up the spits with deliciously marinated pork!
Coyoacan, Mexico City
When I was at my hostel in Coyoacan I was all by myself and I started to feel so lonely. This really put a damper on my urge to explore and I mostly stay in the neighborhood the last few days of my trip. Due to my loneliness I was dying to go home. I did get to catch up with some old friends that I had met on my last trip to Mexico (even though I met them in Cancun and now we were reuniting in Mexico City) But just my luck, my first night was their last night.
Casa Azul – The Home Where Frida Kahlo Lived
I paint my own reality. The only thing I know is that I paint because I need to, and I paint whatever passes through my head without any other consideration.Frida Kahlo
